letters to my plants

Dear Chinese Money Plant,

You wre the first plant I bought since I moved, so thanks for sticking with me while I learned how to care for plants. I love your style! Since I started misting you, you seem a lot happier. I love seeing the little leaves sprout up from the middle. You have two leafy children that I propagated and gave to Faythe and my mom. They're not growing more leaves which is kind of hilarious, but a single leaf in a pot is kind of cute too.

Dear Marigolds,

It was fun watching you grow from seeds. Then there was a heat wave and you fucking died. RIP

Dear Mint,

You have been a challenge for me because you've had issues over the year with black spots on leaves that I couldn't diagnose. Getting you on a better watering schedule has improved things, and now you make so much mint I can't even figure out what to do with it all. You have two leafy children with Sarah and Faythe/Alan. I'm impressed with your survivability and ease of propagation. The snipped piece I gave to Sarah, I actually just planted directly in the soil, and it pulled through. Amazing!

Dear Catnip,

I bought you for Kiki to eat but she doesn't like fresh catnip as it turns out. It was fun watching you happily grow in your big pot. I sent a big batch of your leaves to my family to give to their cats, and I am currently drying another batch to see if Kiki likes ya dried. You seem to not be liking the cold of winter so here's hoping you pull through.
